The Hudson Valley Crossing site, located in the Town of Hamptonburgh, totals 138 acres and is fully approved for a 1.3 million-square foot distribution center and 3 buildings totaling 1.2 million square feet. The site is especially attractive because of its proximity to Interstates I-84 and I-87, Stewart International Airport and Norfolk Southern Railway.
In February, Hunter Panels, a division of Carlisle Companies (NYSE:CSL), made the decision to relocate its operations to Orange County and the Hudson Valley Crossing site.
Hunter Panels will be manufacturing rigid foam insulation roofing materials for the commercial and industrial markets at its new Orange County plant. The new 360,000- square foot facility will be built on approximately 30 acres.
Hunter Panels chose Orange County because it is positioned well from a logistics standpoint, has an abundance of shovel-ready sites, and a public-private sector that has created a business-friendly environment.
Tom Timmerman, Vice-President of Operations for Hunter Panels said the company hopes to be operational in its new manufacturing facility by the first quarter of 2013. He indicated that the Town of Hamptonburgh and other government and economic development officials “were very cooperative in meeting a very aggressive timetable.”
The total capital investment for the project, including land acquisition, is approximately $27 million. Initially, 70-90 workers will staff the facility. Both Hunter Panels and Hudson Valley Crossing have received incentives from the Orange County Industrial Development Agency.
